The Village of Northville is located right off NY Route 30 in northernmost Fulton County on the upper part of the Great Sacandaga Lake. Northampton is the town that surrounds Northville. Northville is famous for being the starting point for the Northville-Lake Placid Trail hiking trail. Northville still has small town charm, but it has a grocery store, pharmacy, hardware and a small department store as well as the many small inns and restaurants catering to the tourist trade. It's main appeal is the Great Sacandaga Lake, which supports a lot of boating and fishing. This is an artificial lake created out of the end of the Sacandaga River but the Hudson-Black River Flood Commission. There are many lakefront lots or lots that have guaranteed private lake access.
Benson is the first town you come to past Northville in Hamilton County, off of NY Route 30, our main road. It is a small town with just one main road, Benson Road or CR 6. It is very hilly woodsy and charming. It boasts Lapland Lakes Cross Country Ski Center as well as the true start of the Northville Lake Placid Hiking Trail. It is 83.2 square miles large but less than 200 full time residents. It has a couple of lakes, Silver and Woods Lake. But only Wood Lake is easily accessible.
Hope is the next town north of Benson where Route 30 hugs the Sacandaga River. Hope is approximately 41 square miles large with a full time population of less than 400. Besides Sacandaga River, there is also Stony Creek, Middle and Murphy Lakes and Hope Falls, so there is no shortage of water and waterfront properties and lots there.
